George Carlin passes & The View is in Las Vegas

Grammy award winner George Carlin passed Sunday, June 22,2008 reportedly of a heart attack at St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica, California. He's survived by his wife Sally Wade and his daughter Kelly Carlin McCall. His first wife Brenda (Hosbrook) Carlin passed from cancer of the liver in 1997. Carlin won a "Free Speech Award" in 2002. He earned a Grammy Award for his spoken words recording from his book "Brain Droppings."

He was born May 12, 1937. After dropping out of school Carlin joined the military. At the age of 19 he was a dj at an off-base radio station "KJOE" in Louisiana. He went on to dj in Boston, Ft. Worth, and Los Angeles. His first appearance on The Tonight show with host Mort Sahl was in 1967, before Johnny Carson was the host. Carlin got fired in Las Vegas both in the 1960's and in the new millennium. Despite those episodes Carlin continued to perform in Las Vegas regularly. Caesar's Palace is hosting the daytime Emmy nominee TV hosts. Local celebrities Penn and Teller and more will be visiting the show from June 23rd to June 27th. Barbara Walters will attend a book signing for her autobiography Audition: A Memoir while here in Las Vegas. Since it's release in May 2008, the 624-page book has been on Barnes and Noble's Top 100 list. The book signing will be in the Summerlin Barnes & Nobles located at 8915 West Charleston at 7 PM Monday, June 23rd, 2008.
